Apple is gearing up for the unveiling of the iPad mini today, something that many enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for, but is also working on the next release of its full-sized tablet, the iPad 4.

There’s no official confirmation on the matter, but rumors on this have already started to cycle around the web, accompanied by leaked photos of the alleged device.

A new such image is now available, providing users with a glimpse at the display assembly of the tablet, and bringing to the spotlight the FaceTime camera it will land on shelves with.

The photo, available courtesy of apple.pro (via BGR), shows that the front-facing camera on the new model will be a bit different than that on the previous models.

Apparently, the camera hole on the bezel is larger than before, which means that Apple might include a bigger sensor in the upcoming device.

According to BGR, chances are that Apple will use the same 1.2-megapixel FaceTime HD camera that has been included in the iPhone 5 and iPod touch.

The upcoming iPad is also expected to have an optically-bonded screen, something that would result in lower glare and better image quality.

Furthermore, rumor has it that Apple’s iPad 3 refresh set to be announced today will arrive on shelves with a new Lightning dock connector and the upgraded FaceTime HD front facing camera, while also featuring the aforementioned optically-bonded display.

The new device is also expected to be announced with better 4G LTE connectivity capabilities, as well as with a faster processor. However, as mentioned above, this hasn’t been confirmed for the time being and might all prove to be merely a rumor.

At the same time, chances are that these details are not connected to the aforementioned iPad 3 refresh, but are meant for a future model, which could hit shelves as iPad 4. With only several hours left until Apple brings it all to the light, you should sit tight and wait for the news.
