Apple’s third-generation iPad is launching in over two dozen additional territories (mostly European) today, at 8:00 a.m. local time.

Having already launched in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Switzerland, UK and the US Virgin Islands last Friday, the new iPad is rolling out in over 24 additional countries today.

Per Apple’s official confirmation, starting at 8:00 a.m. local time on Friday, March 23, the new tablet computer will be released in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

Customers can buy the Retina-enabled iPad through the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers, Apple said.

“The new iPad redefines the category Apple created less than two years ago, delivering the most amazing experience people have ever had with technology,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, on March 7, when the third-generation iPad was unveiled.

“The new iPad now has the highest resolution display ever seen on a mobile device with 3.1 million pixels, delivering razor sharp text and unbelievable detail in photos and videos,” added Schiller.

The new iPad’s key feature is the Retina display which boasts 2048x1536 resolution. The tablet is powered by Apple’s new dual-core A5X chip with quad core graphics. A 5-megapixel iSight camera is located on the back of the device.

iPad Wi-Fi + 4G has built-in next generation LTE networking. It is said to offer the most comprehensive support for fast networks worldwide including HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA, though LTE is not supported in Europe, unfortunately.

However, now both CDMA and GSM iPad users have the ability to roam internationally.
