Leaked iPad 3 parts put together and compared with the iPad 2 seem to confirm most the rumors regarding the next-generation of Apple tablets, at least as far as design goes.

Chinese tech-rumor source MIC Gadget has obtained a number of iPad 3 components and put them all together to offer the world a view of that the next-generation of Apple tablets will look and feel like. Sadly, the internal parts were off limits.

The digitizer panel immediately confirms that the iPad 3 does have a home button, despite rumors saying that it didn’t (based on the image Apple used to create the invitations for its March 7 event).

The back shell has a more tapered design in order to hide the extra millimeter of depth, which had been rumored for quite some time.

Put together, these two key parts make up the entire exterior of the Apple iPad 3. Tested against various third-party cases, the Chinese site could confirm that “the iPad 2 cases barely fit the iPad 3 rear shell.”

And one case manufacturer has “discreetly” told the site that “thousands of iPad 3 cases have been shipped to the states over the past week.” Apple’s own Smart Cover accessories work perfectly, according to the site.

Finally, the camera hole is larger, indicating that Apple is putting in an enhanced image sensor.

According to the specs list in the video, the iPad 3 will ship with an A6 processor, as well as Siri, the digital assistant application currently only available on the iPhone 4S.

Apple has a special event planned for this week in San Francisco, California. At the city’s multi-disciplinary arts center (the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts), Apple plans to unveil the next generation of tablet computers. The key feature of the iPad 3 is said to be an amazing Retina display with a 2048x1536 pixel resolution.
