China’s Twitter equivalent, the microblogging site Sina Weibo, appears to have churned up an interesting tidbit regarding the pricing of Apple’s next-generation tablet computer.

According to a post by one Sina Weibo user, the iPad 3 (which hasn’t been confirmed as of yet) will see a price spike of about $70-$80 in the Unites States.

As MacRumors points out, the headings are labeled left to right as follows: "Apple iPad Model," "iPad 2 US Price," "iPad 3 US Price," "iPad 3 RMB equivalent price." The pricing is also calculated on the exchange rate on the last column.

Notably, the iPad 3’s entry level price is $579 - 80 bucks higher than the current base configuration. Apple generally upgrades the hardware but keeps the price in place. Upping the price is regarded as a move that could potentially scare away a lot of new adopters.

For the 64GB+WiFi+3G model, the price goes as high as $899 - $70 more compared to the equivalent iPad 2 3G models.

Photographs leaked on the same Sina Weibo earlier this week depicted what was said to be iPad 3 pallets getting loaded onto a jet that was headed to the united states with scheduled stops in major airports, like ORD Chicago, JFK New York, and LAX Los Angeles.

Widespread rumors say it is planning a March 7 event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco California to unveil the next generation of tablet computers - the iPad 3.

Apple’s next iPad reportedly has a double-resolution display at 2048x1536 pixels, or 260 ppi (pixels per inch) density, which makes it Retina-quality, according to the tech savvy folks at iFixit. The device is also expected to boast a higher-resolution camera on the back, and a design akin to that of the iPad 2.
