The authors of Greenpois0n, a reliable jailbreak tool for Apple iDevices, have issued an update on the status of the iPad 2 jailbreak, ensuring that hacker p0sixninja is hard at work to deliver the goods sooner rather than later.

The tinkerers at Chronic Dev say they’ve caught wind of the reports flying around quoting their fellow hacker as saying that iPad 2 jailbreak was coming in ‘weeks.’

One of those initial reports was posted, in fact, by Softpedia and got picked up by iPhone Dev Team’s Musclenerd who said the iPad 2 jailbreak might actually be 'months' away.

We left it at that only to learn this week that Chronic Dev is going to deliver.

While they don’t promise an exact release date, they say the timeframe is accurate, and that they’re pushing p0sixninja to get the job done in good time.

“As I’m sure many people have heard, Josh (posixninja) has recently been quoted saying the iPad 2 jailbreak is coming in ‘weeks’,” writes bile on greenpois0n.com.

“I know I have been very publicly abrasive and non-commital on giving any kind of timeframe or comment on this matter, but at the behest of Josh […] we’re ALL going to hold him to that!!!”, bile promises on behalf of Chronic Dev.

The team has a popular jailbreak tool called Greenpois0n, which works pretty much like the iPhone Dev Team’s tools in that it hacks iOS devices, only it boasts a different UI.

Going by bile’s blog update, there will be a new Greenpois0n release soon, and it will pack an exploit for jailbreaking the iPad 2 under iOS 4.3.x firmware versions.

“I’m not going to get into extensive detail about this, but what I will say one of the missing puzzle pieces may have reared its head and cast a glance in our direction… take from that what you will,” he writes.

As usual, Softpedia would like to stress that we do not encourage jailbreaks. As far as we're concerned, we post articles such as this one solely for informational purposes.
