iPad 2 Jailbreak Unleashed

The iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that Comex’s JailbreakMe 3.0 is now available with support for all iDevices starting with iPhone 3GS. The iPad 2 is finally supported as well.

The Team informs on its blog that “Once again, @comex has resurrected [JailbreakMe] for your jailbreaking ease and pleasure!”

The hacking crew explains that Comex is at second JailbreakMe installment, touting the web-based hacking tool as being “the easiest way to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad (including the iPad2!).”

The supported configurations are:

iPad1: 4.3 through 4.3.3
iPad2: 4.3.3
iPhoneGS: 4.3 through 4.3.3
iPhone4: 4.3 through 4.3.3
iPhone4-CDMA: 4.2.6 through 4.2.8
iPod touch 3g: 4.3, 4.3.2, 4.3.3
iPod touch 4g: 4.3 through 4.3.3

“No computer is necessary for jbme3.0…just browse to http://www.jailbreakme.com on your device and install it from there!”, the hackers outline.

As usual, there are plenty of things to look out for, such as who is eligible for a firmware downgrade, once they go down this path.

“While @comex and others have worked hard to make this as simple as possible, some people may have questions and problems may arise,” says the Team.

“Rather than inundate comex with any questions over twitter, please consider using either our comments section below, or visit http://jbqa.me”, they advise.

As usual, the post includes the basic information surrounding this jailbreak in the form of a FAQ that details some typical jailbreak situations.

For example, the infamous group of hackers recommend installing “PDF Patcher 2” in Cydia once they’re jailbroken to eliminate any risk of getting infected with malware.

They also warn that those who have the GSM or CDMA iPad 2 will not be able to restore to iOS 4.3.3 or lower once Apple stops signing the firmware baseband.

Softpedia does not encourage jailbreaking.
