CloudMosa is offering up Puffin Web Browser 2.3.4, a new version of the company’s ultra-fast mobile Internet browsing app which borrows some UI elements from Microsoft’s Windows 8.

Featuring a live-tile imitation akin to the Windows 8 start screen (screenshot above), Puffin Web Browser is touted as one of the fastest web browsers in the iOS App Store. The application is universal for both iPhone and iPad and sells for $2.99 / €2.59.

In version 2.3.4 there’s a new “Send Feedback” button that enables users to provide feedback on any bugs they may encounter directly from the app’s interface.

“We recommend users use this feature to report any issues so we can so that we can understand the environmental problem occurs, and to reply feedbacks directly,” says CloudMosa, the developer.

A new drag-n-drop gesture is available. Users must first press and hold on the screen to summon the “blue circle” which allows them to simulate mouse drag and drop actions.

The update also delivers increased stability and fixed bugs, says the developer. CloudMosa says Gmail will work on Puffin Web Browser like it was on “a super fast server with 32 cores and 768GB memory and an Internet backbone with 10Gbps bandwidth and 1ms latency to major web sites.”

The company claims Puffin can execute JavaScript five times faster than the fastest iOS web browser, based on SunSpider JavaScript Benchmark.

“Puffin is 550% faster than the built-in browser on iPad 3, and 1600% faster than Chrome and other alternative browsers on the iOS platform,” says CloudMosa. “Additionally, Puffin is 500% faster than the latest & greatest Chrome on Nexus 7,” the developer adds.

Puffin Web Browser is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later. The app is optimized for iPhone 5.
