Although iOS, Symbian and Android are changing their market share in Nordic countries monthly, it appears that Google's operating system is the only one that shown a strong growth over the last five months.

According to CEM4Mobile Solutions, a company that focuses on Mobile Analytics and Customer Experience Management for mobile content, all three operating systems have 28-33% of the market share in the Nordic countries.

The company's research is based on 21 million transaction sample of mobile browsing services page loads from May to September 2011 from Nordic countries.

The operating system market shares have evolved during September as follows: Apple iOS 33%, Symbian OS 29%, Android OS 28%, Nokia OS 5%, Sony Ericsson 2% and Samsung OS 1%.

During 2011 Android was the only platform that has grown steadily, stealing market share from Symbian and, lately, Apple iOS.

iOS started the year with a 35% market share, but dropped 2% by October, while Symbian had the same market share (35%) earlier this year, but lost 2% as well.

On the other hand Android started with only 22% market share and is now at 28%, that's a huge (6%) growth, which indicates that Google's platform might leapfrog Apple's iOS by the end of the year.

If these trends persist unchanged, CEM4Mobile Solutions forecasts that Android will overtake Symbian in October and Apple iOS in December 2011.

However, it will be interesting which mobile platform will be the affected by the upcoming release of Nokia and Microsoft's Windows Phone Mango operating system.

It remains to be seen how much the unfortunate recent loss of Apple's founder Steve Jobs will impact Apple's performance, how much the recent patent disputes will slow down the adoption of Android and at which point Nokia's and Microsoft's effort on Windows Phone 7 start impacting the trends,” said Janne Aalto, the CEO of CEM4Mobile Solutions Ltd.
