Hacker Stefan Esser tweets out what could be concerning news

Famed hacker Stefan Esser, also known as @i0n1c in Twitter circles, has tweeted out what appears to be a disturbing piece of information.

Published minutes ago on a Twitter stream followed by over 100K people, i0n1c’s tweet reads, “So apparently someone around the @evad3rs stole a jailbreak from them and sold it to a private buyer.”

The first thing that comes to mind is the much-coveted iOS 7 jailbreak. The second is a question that only Esser and his fellow hackers can answer: how do you “steal” a jailbreak?

Since a jailbreak is basically reverse-engineered code, there has to be at least two copies of it lying around the evad3rs’ desks, right? RIGHT?!

It would be terrible to see the iOS 7 jailbreak postponed, or even canceled, because of this event. Also, it would be great if Esser replied to my question: what jailbreak are we talking about exactly?

He didn’t specify what iOS version he was referring to, so maybe he’s just sharing a fun fact that occurred a long time ago. Then again, why blurt it out now?
