Apple has made a major change to its policy regarding developer accounts, now providing app builders with the possibility to transfer software from one to another.

On its developer website, the company explains that this applies only to qualifying applications, and that the option should be used when a developer account is sold, or assets purchased.

When such a change occurs, all that developers need to do is to change the state of the app in iTunes Connect, to notify the acquiring developer, and to accept the transfer.

“You can now transfer qualifying apps to another account — useful in cases of an acquisition or asset purchase. When you transfer an app, it will remain available on the App Store or Mac App Store, all ratings and reviews will carry over, and users will continue to have access to future updates,” the company explains.
