One truly original IP with a visual twist like no other

Famous game developer Chillingo is having one of its games featured as the App of the Week on iTunes, and for good reason too. The game is simply awesome!

Despite having been around for quite a while, Icycle: On Thin Ice is only now entering the spotlight, thanks in part to the $0 price tag. It’s not clear if the price drop is permanent or temporary, but we’d suggest downloading it sooner rather than later.

We said “thanks in part” because the other reason behind its coolness are the amazing visuals coupled with the weirdness of the storyline. If it even has one.

A shapeshifting visual delight

“Games and art become one in the masterfully crafted and visually stunning Icycle: On Thin Ice. Play as the cold naked hero Dennis, and pedal, jump and glide through each beautiful but deadly post-apocalyptic frozen wonderland,” says Chillingo.

You control Dennis, who is naked and rides a series of bikes through strange, shapeshifting environments. You need to use the morphing structures to avoid falling into spikes and such. The end goal almost always appears to be reaching a female character, which is portrayed in different ways, either as a fish or a snowman... er, snow-woman.

It's a puzzle platformer with a lot of replayability, but it can also be annoying after a few consecutive deaths. Watch out for the in-app purchases if you're planning to let the kids have their way with it.

Give it a go and you’ll instantly realize why it was selected App of the Week. Watch the trailer below as well to make an idea of how to play the game.
