14 DAY TRIAL // iOS 9 has been spotted in Internet activity and, not surprisingly, it’s news. We won’t bore you with the annual speculations that Apple is developing new software (as if there was a chance it wouldn’t develop new software), but we would like to draw your attention to this interesting concept video put together by YouTuber Ralph Theodory.
A student who is passionate about all things tech and seeking a scholarship to ultimately nab a job at Apple – quite ambitious, isn’t he? – Ralph has uploaded a comprehensive iOS 9 Concept video hoping to influence Apple’s development.
A concept for now
Normally, these things don’t stand a chance to materialize if the solution isn’t thought out from every angle, and Ralph’s ideas clearly need more polishing up. That being said, his suggestions are not entirely farfetched either.
While the rounded-icons options may only be reserved for the Apple Watch OS, other enhancements – like individual app settings in the multi-tasking tray, the Support app, the Storage app, the hub-like Videos app, and Bug Report – could actually make great additions to the software.
The new Music app is also a tantalizing prospect. Ralph proposes easy ways to set a song as a ringtone (currently a nightmarish process for iOS customers), an easily-accessible equalizer, and more. Apple may not be inclined to implement these tools, but things like the existing Stocks and Game Center apps are certainly not scoring major points with the masses either.
iOS could give Android a run for its money
All in all, we think Ralph’s work is somewhat doable and something that regular folks would deeply appreciate. Plus, Apple has kind of forgotten to include all-new usability features like the ones demoed here.
It may not sound like much on paper, but these things tend to make a world of difference when you have them at your fingertips. It's practically what sets iOS and Android apart more often than not.
