Apple would do itself a favor by purchasing the File Manager Pro navigation system

It’s safe to say that iOS 7 took quite a few users by surprise when it was released by Apple in September of 2013. One of the main problems some people had (and are still having) is the UI navigation system.

The iconography in iOS 7 may be an advancement, but not everyone agrees.

But that’s nothing compared to the navigation inconsistencies throughout the OS. For example, often are the times that you will get stuck somewhere simply because you can’t find a “back” button (such as in the Voice Memos app).

Sure, it gets easier with time, but that’s not the Apple experience I remember.

Zuhanden’s File Manager Pro fixes all that with a clever path view for managing files and for navigating various areas of your iPhone (granted, only a few). A video demonstration of the tool is embedded below.

There’s just one problem. It’s stuck in its own app package, when it could well be the standard UI for Apple's upcoming iOS 8.

File Manager Pro combines touch gestures with traditional file browsing in a way that no other app has done before. Plus, the large icons, bold text, and warm colors make for a great visual experience!

Put iOS 7 and File Manager Pro side by side and you’ll soon notice which one is easier on the eyes.

And if Apple were to buy the software and implement it in iOS 8, why not go the extra mile and include all of its features too? Such as cloud integration, options to create folders and copy/rename/delete files, “Favorites,” the ability to handle archives, etc.

It’s just a tool that every smartphone on the planet should come with out-of-the-box. Apple would do itself a huge favor by becoming the first company to offer a true file manager / navigator for its mobile users.

Only then would iOS 8 deserve the tagline “the most advanced mobile operating system.”
