Multitasking in iOS 7 brings the performance of your iPhone closer to that of computers. It features a smart way to switch between apps, an intuitive way to close them, and a power-saving way for updating them.

Apple admits that “Multitasking has always been a smart way to switch between apps,” although iOS never mastered this aspect. In iOS 7, it does.

When iOS 7 ships this fall, your iPhone will be able to learn which apps you like to use and when. This way it can update your content before you even launch the app. The creators explain it best:

“…if you tend to check your favorite social app at 9:00 a.m. every day, your feed will be ready and waiting for you. That’s multitasking in iOS 7. It knows what you want to do before you do.”

Perhaps the coolest thing about Multitasking in iOS 7 is its interface. Your app icons are now accompanied by previews which slide along with each and every swipe gesture you perform.

Want to quit an app? It’s as easy as swiping it away from the Multitasking tray.
