iCloud Keychain, a password manager and form filler that Apple has built right into its OSes, has been temporarily removed from the latest iOS 7 seed.

Developers are reporting that iOS 7 Golden Master (GM) Seed no longer displays the iCloud Keychain feature which Apple has developed to remember your account names, passwords, and credit card numbers.

iCloud Keychain not only keeps your credentials stored safely and handily in the cloud, but it also syncs them across your devices that integrate with iCloud. This way, any stored account is just a few clicks away.

Apple’s web browser, Safari, enters these passwords and account names automatically whenever you make an online purchase, rendering third-party solutions like 1Password obsolete.

“It works on all your approved iOS 7 devices and Mac computers running OS X Mavericks. And with 256-bit AES encryption, it’s highly secure,” Apple says on the marketing pages of iOS 7.

Apple is likely waiting for the release of OS X Mavericks to deploy iCloud Keychain. While iOS 7 is slated to launch next week, Mavericks is a bit farther off.
