Share photos, videos, contacts, and anything you can think of from any app

Sending files from your iDevice via email was becoming ridiculous and Apple knew it. iOS 7 comes with AirDrop, the system-wide sharing function which leverages Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for easy file sharing.

In iOS 7 you no longer have to ask people for their email address, nor do you have to share a cloud service with someone, to send them a photo or a document.

Simply fire up AirDrop and the people nearby will start popping up on screen in balloons.

Everyone is automatically visible in AirDrop to contacts running iOS 7, but you can also make yourself invisible via the Control Center.

You can use it when you’re out and about to quickly share photos, videos, contacts, and even content from third-party apps. Just tap the Share button and select the person you want to hand that photo or document and AirDrop takes care of the rest.

The feature works on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and requires no setup whatsoever. The transfers are encrypted, and recipients can choose whether to save that file or not.

Best of all, the content you accept gets saved exactly where it needs to be saved. For instance, a picture will be saved automatically in Photos.
