“I noticed I was feeling queasy every time I used it,” writes one customer

People who suffer from motion sickness have discovered that iOS 7 is causing them to feel queasy, mainly because of the animations. Worst of all, the feature doesn’t have an On/Off toggle associated with it.

Even though iOS 6 would also zoom in and out of the Home screen whenever the user launched or closed an app, iOS 7 takes things a bit further by actually making it appear to move in a 3D environment.

It’s not real 3D, but it’s enough to cause motion sickness for some.

A user named Ensorceled writes on Apple’s forum, “The zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache. It's exactly how I used to get car sick if I tried to read in the car.”

Ensorceled wants to either turn off the feature or revert to iOS 6.

Another user, identified as knphoto10, chimes in to say, “I thought I was going crazy today after I updated my phone and I noticed I was feeling queasy every time I used it. Now I see I am not alone!”

“I just used my phone for about 20 minutes and now I feel like I'm going to vomit. There has to be a way to turn this off!” knphoto10 adds.

Unfortunately, as discovered by many frustrated users, the feature cannot be turned off. Apple does offer a toggle to reduce motion across the OS, but that doesn’t apply to the zooming animation.

A user named glassrabbit actually claims to have had “severe vertigo” the instant he started using his iPad with iOS 7. It’s reasonable to assume that users who already suffer from some form of motion sickness will be even more affected by the iPad’s big screen.

This user is convinced “It's the transition between the apps flying in and out [that’s causing the issue].”

“I can use it now limited time, AND ONLY if I close my eyes between apps,” says this person.

“I guess the one good bright spot (pun intended) is I now have to lower the screen to almost 50% to tolerate that and it might save battery life. Its a lovely upgrade but please let us control the between app transitions!!! Someone will have a seizure or something,” glassrabbit concludes.
