If there’s one thing people want from iOS 7, it’s a more user-friendly lockscreen on their iPhones. The latest concepts flying around YouTube are all singing the same song, and Jony Ive should do well to take some notes.

Now in charge of Human Interfaces at Apple, design guru Jonathan Ive is expected to overhaul both iOS and OS X in their next major releases. On the mobile front, that’s iOS 7.

Besides doing away with skeuomorphism, Jony Ive has another mission – enhance the iOS lock screen. And designer Mohamed Kerroudj thinks he has a pretty good idea of how to achieve that.

Like other designers before him, Kerroudj proposes a minimalistic lockscreen for iOS 7 which offers handy options like ON/OFF toggles for Wi-Fi, location services, notifications.

Simple swiping gestures would enable the user to quickly navigate to the calendar, as well as to Notification Center where he / she would be able to reply to a message without actually unlocking the device to access the Messages app.

While some tweaks in this demo are more theoretical than practical, Kerroudj’s concept does deserve some attention. We really hope Apple takes some of these features into consideration.
