Training begins at AT&T in anticipation of iPhone refresh

Longstanding iPhone carrier AT&T has kicked off a training program for its staff in anticipation of the impending iPhone refresh later this month, coupled with the upcoming release of iOS 7.

Last year, Apple released iOS 6 to the public two days before the iPhone 5 shipped physically in stores. If the same rule holds true this time around, iOS 7 could be released for download no later than September 18.

This bodes extremely well with AT&T’s recent staff training on the nuts and bolts of iOS 7 and iTunes Radio, according to a series of leaked internal documents obtained by AppleInsider.

One leaked screenshot in particular shows that AT&T is training support staff on Activation Lock, a new security feature of Find My iPhone in iOS 7 that makes it hard for a thief to use or sell a stolen iDevice.

Staff is instructed to inform customers that they must remember their Apple ID and password at all times, and that they should erase the phone before selling it or giving it away.

But that’s only scratching the surface regarding the new features Apple plans to deploy with iOS 7 for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

Detailed in a dedicated series hanging high at the top of Softpedia’s Mac section, iOS 7’s key features include Control Center, a new Multitasking UI, Camera and Photos.app enhancements, AirDrop, a new Safari web browser, and the newly announced iTunes Radio music streaming service.

Apple advertises iOS 7 on its website, saying, “It […] makes the things you do every day even easier, faster, and more enjoyable.”

“And while many of the apps look different, the way you do things feels perfectly familiar. So from day one, you know how to use the world’s most advanced mobile OS. In its most advanced form,” reads the marketing.
