iOS in the Car, an iOS 7 feature designed by Apple and car makers to allow customers to manage iOS Maps, Messages, and Music via the car’s display, is about to roll out.

But don’t hold your breath for a release this year. December is halfway through, Apple has already announced the iTunes Connect Holiday Shutdown, and the company’s software engineers are likely preparing iOS 7 beta 3 to continue testing in January.

Not that anyone assumed Apple was done developing iOS 7.1 with just two betas seeded to developers (the newest just a few days ago), but multiple sources close to 9to5mac are confirming the 2014 launch date.

Noting that iOS 7.1 now includes an On/Off toggle for iOS in the Car, the site reports, “it currently seems like Apple is targeting a launch for iOS in the Car alongside iOS 7.1 next year.”
