“afc sandbox escape” and various other exploits get patched in beta 5

Jailbreak developer iH8sn0w reveals on Twitter that Apple has finally patched all the key exploits in evasi0n7, the tool that enables iPhone and iPad users to jailbreak iOS 7.

Although Apple had shown some intent of thwarting jailbreaks in previous betas, it wasn’t until the arrival of iOS 7.1 Beta 5 that the jailbreak got killed for good.

“evasi0n7's afc sandbox escape is patched in 7.1b5,” iH8sn0w writes in a tweet as he pinpoints the exploits that got shot down in the new beta.

It’s no surprise that Apple is taking these steps, keeping the cat-and-mouse game between the company and hackers alive.

However, finding new exploits is getting harder and harder these days, and there’s a good chance the hackers behind evasi0n won’t even bother jailbreaking any more iOS 7 updates. These exploits are too valuable and too hard to obtain to waste them ahead of the iOS 8 release.

Apple is reportedly launching iOS 7.1 to the public sometime around March.
