Apple’s newest iPhone models may look pretty and all, but they’re not without flaws. One recently found issue involves the phones’ accelerometer, which senses movement and aids with orientation.

The accelerometer is also used by level apps, as well as the stock Compass app from Apple. If the sensor uses bad algorithms, the readings you’re getting from your iPhone – whether you’re playing Need for Speed or trying to find your way out of the woods – will be inaccurate.

Enter iOS 7.0.3, a new software update from Apple which addresses numerous reported flaws, including the bad bias of the accelerometer. Apple says it has fixed the accelerometer calibration issue, and reports from customers seem to suggest that the patch has indeed worked.

iOS 7.0.3 is available for all devices that support iOS 7, starting with the iPhone 4.
