When Apple switched on the new tile-based App Store user interface in iOS 6 for developers, some testers noticed the addition of Genius recommendations (replacing the “Categories” tab). It wasn’t working back then, but now it is.

Genius is an iTunes-inspired feature that recommends content based on your taste (your previous purchases). It’s been a useful feature for iTunes and Apple TV aficionados for quite some time now, but Apple felt it could do the same for apps. And it did, in iOS 6 beta 4, currently in internal testing.

According to reports from testers, Genius is now a working feature, replacing the Categories tab at the bottom of the UI.

The Chomp-style interface is still there, making the iOS 6 App Store look simply charming. We can’t wait to get our hands on the finished product, and even more so on the longer screen of the iPhone 5.
