When iOS 6 came out, Apple somehow forgot to include the popular gifting feature in the App Store. No explanation was given, but the culprit most likely was the Chomp-inspired revamp of the digital distribution venue.

Luckily for those who like to surprise their loved ones with a fresh app from time to time, the feature is now officially back on.

As the screenshot above shows (click for the full thing), you can now search for an app on your iPhone, hit the action key at the top right and select the Gift icon from the two rows of available services (at the far right).

Just tap the icon and fill in the recipient’s information. Don’t forget to include your own name in there so they know who it’s from. Happy gifting!
