Hacker winocm confirms that the release is “almost there”

Hacker "winocm," whose tweets spread like wildfire whenever iOS jailbreaks are involved, has confirmed progress on the iOS 6.1.4 jailbreak front.

That’s right, even though everyone is now talking about the new iOS 7, the remaining handful of users who preferred to remain on the old firmware are about to get the proper tools to perform an untethered jailbreak of the software.

Jailbreaking has certainly lost its oomph over the past year, but there are numerous iDevice owners who still reap the benefits of various tweaks that can only be obtained via hacks.

Perhaps an iOS 7 jailbreak will make for a better headline. Though I wouldn’t get my hopes up for anything of the sort emerging any time soon.

iOS 6.1.4 is the latest version in the iOS 6 branch and is only available for iPhone 5 handsets. Which is why winocm’s tweet suddenly makes a lot of sense (especially what he’s put in Brackets).
