PixelMags, a content distribution software (CDS) company, has announced exponential download growth and revenue thanks to iOS 5 and its exclusive Newsstand feature. The improvement is significant, despite the fact that iOS 5 has been out only a week.

The company said it conducted an internal audit of both pre and post Apple Newsstand magazine sales recently.

They found differences in both the download count and the revenue their clients were experiencing after the launch of Apple Newsstand. According to PixelMags, the audit showed that revenue had increased by “hundreds of thousands of dollars”.

As for the downloads and circulations, these have been on a rapid and steady incline.

"We quickly started to realize just how big of an impact Apple Newsstand was having on our business when on the morning after launch, I received a phone call from our server company wondering if we were under attack? I told them that we were for sure -- from all the new iOS5 users who wanted download magazines from us," said Ryan Marquis, coo and founder of PixelMags.

"We couldn't be more pleased for the hundreds of publishers who put their trust and faith in us and who are now seeing the incredible rewards of all our efforts," continued Marquis.

PixelMags reckons that Newsstand has already changed the face of the digital publishing world, despite the fact that it’s been available for only a week.

The publisher has five out the 10 top grossing Newsstand magazines in North America Their HowItWorks magazine is currently number one.

In the United Kingdom, Men's Fitness is PixelMags’ number one title. There it has even more top grossing Newsstand magazines - six out of the 10 - , the company said.
