Potential iOS 5 'test' build running on current Apple hardware - White iPhone 4

A Vietnamese source responsible with similarly accurate leaks in the past has posted a video demonstration of what appears to be iOS 5. And what better platform to demo the unconfirmed software, if not a White iPhone?

Described by tinhte.vn as a ‘test version’ of the iOS, the software running on said White iPhone 4 can either be a jailbreak mod, or iOS 5 itself.

After carefully examining the footage, we’re more inclined to support the latter hypothesis, though we're not ruling it out as a potential hoax either.

By far the most noteworthy feature is an Expose-like multitasking function which marks a departure from the current applications-tray view.

The person demonstrating the software shows a few more features, like putting the application windows in ‘giggle’ mode for ending processes, and the Spotlight search function which now lies at the top of the screen in Expose mode, rather than in a separate screen (as with the current iOS versions).

It makes sense for Apple to implement these features in the next version of its mobile operating system, with potential plans to have some applications running in the background, perhaps even showing a live preview of their activity as the user swipes through the open programs.

The Spotlight change will also be a welcome tweak for some, we’re sure.

If this is, indeed, iOS 5, it has been unveiled months before its slated introduction which most analysts and tech blogs agree it should be at WWDC 2011 this summer.

In addition to implementing cosmetic changes, such as the ones demoed by Tinhte, Apple is widely expected to focus much of the functionality inside iOS 5 to a new MobileMe service, or suite of services that leverage location-aware apps, social apps, and more.
