14 DAY TRIAL // Apple is preparing the release of iOS 5.1 Final with Chronic Wire reporting that the Gold Master build has been “in a vigorous quality assurance phase for the past three weeks, with extensive testing being done internally by Apple as well as by various carriers/partners.”
Codenamed Hoodoo, iOS 5.1 Gold Master currently carries a 9B176 build number. However, “a very solid source” is telling the blog that “three different partners who are testing the Gold Master claim to have slightly (by single digits) higher builds numbers on their copies.”
It is believed the difference in increments is caused by iOS 5.1.1 builds, which should already be in testing with bug fixes and tweaks. iOS 5.1 Final is expected to launch for existing iDevice owners as early as today.
