Apple customers on China’s main cellular operator are reporting that iOS 5.1 has fixed their signal woes on iPhone 4S handsets. China Mobile has over 15 million unlocked iPhones running on its network.

It had been previously reported that iPhone 4S smartphones had trouble connecting to China Mobile’s network, and that Apple was planning to deliver a fix.

That fix has arrived, according to MIC Gadget: “This new iOS update brings lots of new features to iPhone 4S users, and most importantly, it fixes the signal issues the iPhone 4S is facing on China Mobile network,” reads the report.

The Chinese blog cites users as saying that iO 5.1 has, indeed, resolved the signal problem.

It adds that China Mobile is extremely important to Apple, despite the fact that every single customer of the 15 million who’ve activated their iPhone with the carrier is using an unlocked handset. To give you a glimpse of the profits Apple could yield by partnering with China Mobile to carry the iPhone, the operator has more than 650 million active subscribers.
