Yet another iOS 4.3 tidbit worth reporting comes from a German blogger who appears to have found an apparent indication that Apple has already told us when iPad 2 is scheduled to arrive, via an image of the tablet’s home screen.

Flo claims that indirect confirmation of the iPad 2’s February launch comes directly from Apple.

“In the settings you can view a small preview for the selection of a certain background image,” reads his Google-translated post.

“In this preview, the icon of the calendar app is seen.”

Flo compared this image with one of Apple’s current advertising materials for the iPad, and strangely found that, for the current tablet, Apple shows a January 27 date on the calendar icon - precisely the day Steve Jobs introduced the original tablet last year.

The same image in iOS 4.3 shows the calendar app icon set at February 9.

Needless to point out, this doesn’t exactly mount as evidence that iPad 2 is expected on that particular date, but is it so far fetched to think so?

In a report documenting the hidden secrets behind some of Apple’s application icons, Electricpig points out to the map on the iPhone's Maps icon which shows the location of Apple’s HQ (1 Infinite Loop), the iPod artist silhouette which allegedly shows one-time Apple partner Bono, the actual Java code written on the napkin in their Java icon and more.

To answer the above question, no, it doesn’t seem far fetched at all that Apple has embedded evidence of its iPad 2 launch date on the Calendar application icon in iOS 4.3 betas.

But it doesn’t stand as confirmation either, therefore don’t get too excited, and wait for the findings and potential future leaks to pile up some more.
