Developers are reporting that Apple has started to approve the first iOS 4.0-tested applications for iPad, one of which is already available for download through the company’s App Store. The title, Big Bad Sudoku Book, is a Game Center app - the first of its kind to emerge for the Apple tablet which, as of yet, doesn’t have Game Center support.

Apple has promised to release iOS 4.2 for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad this month, a self-imposed deadline which the company will most certainly make.

The software release brings some existing iOS 4 features to the iPad for the first time. These include multitasking, application folders, iAds, and Game Center.

The latter appears to be supported by Bad Weasel LLC’s new iPad app, Big Bad Sudoku Book, an iOS 4.0-tested piece of software that goes onto iPads as soon as the necessary software update is performed by the tablet’s owner.

The app is touted as the best Sudoku game on any platform and a top downloaded app for the iPad. Naturally, the developers at Bad Weasel did not want to miss out on any potential purchases, therefore were first to release their Game Center support for iPad.

In addition to this finding, 9to5mac reports that developers have started seeing their iOS 4.2 apps being approved. These are also Game Center apps. Game Center is Apple’s new social network for games introduced with iOS 4 earlier this year.

Earlier this week, Apple released the GM seed of iOS 4.2 to developers. Soon after, the company issued an announcement saying that developers looking to code iOS 4.2 apps could commence their work.

Given these latest developments, Apple’s November release of the iOS 4.2 software update may occur as soon as this week, Softpedia believes.

The IPSW file that users need to download to apply the software update will arrive through iTunes for every customer when he / she connects their device to their computer.
