Citing multiple sources, World News Express claims Apple will roll out iOS 4.2 for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on Tuesday, November 9. Apple has also delayed the release of Mac OS X 10.6.5, which is a requirement for one particular feature in iOS 4.2, leading to assumptions that the two software updates may emerge in tandem next week.

Citing Deutsche Telekom’s customer service as the main source of this leak, the news site in question claims: "It [iOS 4.2] is schedule for Tuesday, November 9, according to reports filtering from Deutsche Telekom’s customer service, the date of issue by Apple’s new software iOS 4.2 for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch.”

It adds: “According to reports in hand by the British newspaper The Guardian and a note of support on the Apple website, the new software will be available as early as tomorrow.”

The rather confusing report seems to predict Apple’s iOS 4.2 rollout without any hard evidence (external links, imagery etc.). However, Apple is, indeed, expected to release the new software update momentarily.

Whether or not it will be launched on November 9, iOS 4.2 will be available this month for iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4, as well as several iPod touch models, and the iPad (both the WiFi model and the WiFi+3G configuration), according to Apple itself.

iOS 4.2 focuses on bringing the iPad to feature parity with the iPhone and iPod touch, adding key new features like multitasking, application folders, Game Center, and more.

Version 4.2 of Apple’s mobile OS is known to bring all the existing features of iOS 4.1 to the iPad, plus additional ones mentioned during the company’s Sept. 1 event.

Besides multitasking, application folders, AirPrint, Game Center and iAds, upcoming additions specifically targeting the iPad include AirPlay (wireless music, movie, and photo streaming), the unified and improved Mail inbox, the ability to search text within Safari, enhanced enterprise support, more accessibility enhancements, as well as keyboard and dictionary enhancements.
