iPhone 4, the latest mobile device Cupertino-based company Apple brought to the market only several weeks ago, reportedly comes with a series of issues affecting its signal strength, and Apple is expected to deliver a software update that might solve the problem. However, it seems that the said solution would be different from the iOS 4.0.1 update the company has just released for the mobile device, and which was aimed mainly at the manner in which the handset displayed the signal bars.

According to a recent article on the New York Times, a second software update is expected to arrive from Cupertino in the near future, one that would actually try to fix the reception problems on the iPhone 4. Moreover, it seems that the Apple press conference set for today would have as its main topic exactly this firmware solution, and not the already released iOS 4.0.1 update.

Ever since launch day, the iPhone 4 was said to come to shelves with some problems related to its antenna, which is built into a steel bracket surrounding the mobile phone. When held in certain positions, the iPhone 4 loses reception, something that is highly undesirable for a mobile device. Apple admitted these issues and said that it would release firmware updates to solve it, while stating that users should avoid holding the handset in those manners. The company denied that it had been warned about these problems prior to the official launch.

It seems that people familiar with the matter suggested that Apple was indeed warned on these issues, and that the design of iPhone 4 is faulty, although all mobile phones might be affected by similar antenna problems. According to Apple, all can be solved via a software update, but not the one aimed at the manner in which the iPhone 4 displays the signal bars. Chances are that the company would announce more during the aforementioned press conference, so make sure you check with us again to learn more on the matter.
