As revealed by Steve Jobs during the WWDC10 keynote address, iMovie is now also available for iPhone. Supported only by the latest generation of iPhone software and hardware (iPhone 4 and iOS 4), the application offers the ability to edit their movies right on the device. Exporting features are also available, this being one of the areas Apple has done some maintenance with the release of iMovie 1.0.1 for iOS.

Priced at $4.99 and weighing in at 30MB, iMovie for iPhone allows users to do some interesting things with their videos, such as trim their length, and give them personality with themes, music and pictures, in addition to exporting them in different sizes. Customers can export their movies either in Medium, Large, or HD format, share the clip on the web in a MobileMe gallery or on YouTube, send it to friends and family via email or MMS, or simply sync the movie back to their computer.

“Make beautiful HD movies anywhere with iMovie, the fun, feature-rich video editing app only for iPhone 4,” goes Apple’s description of iMovie for iPhone. “Create a video postcard of your day at the beach and publish it to the web — without ever leaving your spot in the sand. Or make a movie of your child’s birthday party and send it to your parents — while the party is in full swing. With iMovie for iPhone, you can start several projects and finish them whenever you want and wherever you are,” the description ends.

The app’s official iTunes page then lists some of the key benefits of using iMovie for iPhone. Following those are the release notes for version 1.0.1 (reproduced below).

What's New In Version 1.0.1

• Improved reliability when exporting movies containing photos. • Resolved issue with music playback within a project. • Additional performance and reliability improvements.
