Developer Polo Planet Software recently released a stripped down version of its Phone Wallpaper X application, calling it
ImagePhone. An update to the app has added the ability to send wallpapers by e-mail, some backup functionality, and a 14.95 USD price tag. A demo is still available.
The program lets you make and manage your own iPhone / iPod touch wallpapers. It sports editing abilities, such as crop and resize, with users being able to apply Core Image filters, such as Sharpening, Sepia, Gamma, Blur, Crystalize, Edges, and Kaleidoscope, to name a few. Some examples are available below. Version 1.0 Build 56 of ImagePhone also adds displaying of centering guidelines and a warning notice about a low-quality picture in Preview.
ImagePhone uses a virtual iPhone display for live preview. Image editing is easy thanks to the adaptable graphics editor that allows to crop and resize images in accordance with the defined exact position and size, according to its makers, while native iPhone support allows uploading backgrounds easily.
Let ImagePhone prepare images for better compatibility, with the iPhone's display to automatically create backgrounds from iPhoto library. ImagePhone also integrates with Address Book, and lets you import your contacts' pictures. Wallpapers can ultimately be transferred to the iPhone, or can be exported into different formats. The possibilities are endless!
All you need is Mac OS X 10.4 or higher and around 35MB of free disk space (just for the app). The application is still free to use, for as long as you want. ImagePhone is a Universal app. A download link is available below.
