Chinese companies love copying Apple and if they can’t do so in form factor or functionalities, they will take another rather dubious approach.

Some of them will go as far as to blatantly copy Apple’s nomenclature and infiltrate some of the names used by iconic products coming from Cupertino into their own business.

iMacwear is an actual company activating in China

It’s the case of iMacwear, which is a company specializing in wearable devices. As you can notice, the device maker heavily draws inspiration from Apple in trying to create a brand for its products.

These are to be thought of as mini computers that one can strap to the wrist and wear around all day.

Currently, wearable-makers are split in three categories, the first one is focused on developing health-related gadgetry (like the FitBit), the second one has smartwatches acting as smartphone companions at its center, while the third one wants to bring users a stand-alone device.

The iMacwear product we’re going to be talking about today pertains to the third category. There aren’t a lot of smartwatches available on the market today that can act as smartphone replacement and the Samsung Gear S is one of them.

But the downside to this product is that it sells for a very hefty price tag, which is comparable to the Apple Watch's – meaning $350 / €280.

Well, the iMacwear M7 might solve this problem, given that Asian-made products usually sell for more affordable price tags.

The M7 is running Android on board

The M7 is an Android smartwatch (note: it’s not the same as Android Wear) that comes out in the hopes of completely replacing your Android or iOS smartphone (as seen at Gizmo China).

It comes equipped with 2G, 3G WCDMA call and browsing functions and has a 1.6-inch touch screen display.

Like the second-gen Samsung Gear 2, the watch also bundled a 5MP camera. Aesthetically speaking, the M7 is quite reminiscent of the Omate Truesmart, but its alloy body seems a little bit more refined. Even so, it looks quite chunky and big compared to current products such as the Moto 360 or ASUS ZenWatch.

As you can see in the pictures, the watch also has three physical buttons, the top one being the power button, while the lower one is the home button. The button in the middle is actually the 5MP camera.

The internal specifications of the M7 include a 1.2GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a 600mAh battery pumping life into the device, although we’re not being told how much it will last.

iMacwear hopes to launch the M7 in China starting November 20 for a price tag of $159 / €127, which is of course a lot less than the Samsung Gear S or Apple Watch.
