14 DAY TRIAL // Apple has released iMac SMC Firmware Update 1.1, which improves the Power Nap feature in Mavericks on supported computers.
Weighing in at just under a megabyte, iMac SMC Firmware Update 1.1 “is recommended for iMac (late 2013) with flash-only storage.”
Apple says the update “improves the Power Nap feature in Mavericks on your flash based iMac by allowing it to perform silently, without spinning up the fan.”
The Cupertino giant then follows up with a short description of Power Nap, informing customers that it is a background feature which “periodically updates apps, such as Mail, Contacts, and Calendar, and will download software updates while your iMac is sleeping.”
The firmware update is to be installed on computers running OS X 10.8.2 or later. Dozens of different languages are supported by the installer.
