And without an Internet connection...

A few months from now, we may be seeing a time when one does not need a computer to be able to use and enjoy an iPod. This is actually a range of gadgets, created by a company called Wingspan, allowing the user to get content onto their iPod without having to use a computer or an Internet connection.

iLoad is the device that transfers a music CD to the iPod, without needing a computer or a Internet connection. The device is said to have a transfer speed greater than 5 times "real time" meaning that a CD will usually take one fifth of the listening time to transfer to the iPod. The device has a database with artist, album and track information which it uses to add the information to the transferred music tracks, and this database can be refreshed by ordering an update CD or via the Internet. You can even chose which track you want to transfer, in case you don't want the entire album, and listen to them while the transfer process takes place.

iLoad-v is similar to the iLoad except it is made to deal with video content. It connects to your cable box or satellite TV and will record your available content directly to the iPod or USB storage device of your choice. The quality of the content is the same as that purchased from the iTunes Music Store and you can program it to record shows while you do something else, just as long as you have enough free space on your iPod or USB storage.

More info can be found on the iLoad website.
