This week, Apple also released a new Digital RAW Compatibility Update, adding the Epson R-D1x and the Nikon D3X to the extensive list of digital camera bodies and backs supported by Aperture 2, iPhoto ’08, and iPhoto ’09. The update is considered very important, as it adds support for RAW image files from Nikon's $8,000, 24.5-megapixel top-end SLR. As for Aperture, Apple's professional photography software application is designed to assist professional photographers in post-production work. The program is optimized for speed, using a powerful search engine and Quick Preview mode for rapid-fire photo browsing.

Weighing in at close to four megabytes, the latest Digital RAW Compatibility Update requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 (the latest version of Tiger), Mac OS X 10.5.3 or newer versions of Leopard. Supported languages include Deutsch, English, Français, Chinese and Simplified Chinese, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk and more.
