References to iLife 10 and iWork 10 have been spotted on Amazon France, hinting at an upcoming major release from Cupertino. "iLife 10 for Dummies", created by the popular "For Dummies" series, and another book about iWork 10 are listed on the French Amazon store as scheduled for release on September 23, and October respectively.

iLife is the Apple-developed suite of software applications aimed at organizing, editing, and publishing photos, movies, and music. The suite is comprised of five applications: iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, and iWeb, all of which run on Mac OS X, Apple’s computer operating system. The latest release, iLife '09, was announced on January 6, 2009, and is included with new Mac computers. An upcoming announcement regarding iLife would seem untypical for Apple, which generally schedules releases for similar timeframes each year. Featuring a ‘10 moniker with 2011 knocking on our doors is also not Apple’s M.O., as 9to5Mac points out.

As for iWork, the company’s productivity suite, it comprises Pages, Keynote, and Numbers, three applications aimed at office work. The Mac maker has been able to scale down all three applications to achieve a version suitable for the iPad, its tablet computer which aims to foray into every possible market, including education, business, gaming, video etc. It is unclear what iWork 10 would bring to the table, given that iWork 09 is still regarded as a complete solution. However, as with every software suite, there’s always room for improvement.

Apple is also rumored to be working on an even "lighter" version of its iWork suite. Recent rumors put Apple in a position to release Pages, Keynote and Numbers for iPhone 4, in a move that would enable users to do some basic work on the go, taking advantage of the phone’s Retina Display. Such rumors seem unlikely to be confirmed by Apple, although the scenario is certainly not impossible either.
