iLife '09 Ships

Forum posters on the Internet are confirming that their iLife '09 pre-orders have been shipped out to them. In accordance with these reports, Apple's online store has replaced the “pre-order” button with the all knowm “add to cart.” A sign saying that iLife '09 “ships January” is still there.

iLife '09 “features major upgrades to iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand, and includes iDVD and an updated version of iWeb,” Apple reveals. iPhoto '09 builds on its predecessor's ability to automatically organize photos into Events, by adding two new functions, namely Faces and Places. Macworld editors were so impressed with iPhoto '09 that they gave it the “Best of Show” award.

Another iLife favorite, GarageBand, brings several new features including lessons that allow one to learn to play an instrument at their own pace. The guides offer interactive lessons that combine video instruction with animated notation and instrument views. The lessons are hosted by leading artists including Sting, Fall Out Boy, and Colbie Caillat. Users can also play and record with new guitar amps and stompbox effects. Virtual instruments are also available. You can use them in a new full-screen view that lets you mix, play along, and record, Apple says.

While iMovie '09 uses powerful new features, such as the Precision Editor, video stabilization, advanced drag and drop, and animated travel maps, iWeb allows you to link your iWeb site to your Facebook account and automatically notify friends when you update your site. iDVD turns your home movies and slideshows into Hollywood-style DVDs with Apple-designed themes, author customized DVDs and new slideshows.

iLife '09 buyers can also benefit from a signature gift wrapping, should they grab the retail box themselves. An Apple Store exclusive, signature gift wrapping allows customers to select Apple software and accessories that are eligible for the Apple Gift Package, an origami-style gift box with a personalized greeting card.
