Spam is annoying, dangerous and must be blocked as soon as it is spotted. This is obvious and we all admit it. No matter what email client we're using, no matter
what email provider we have, no matter how paranoid we are, the unsolicited messages manage to reach our inboxes and infiltrate among other legitimate content. That's why we need a powerful security solution that would be able to block unwanted emails and keep our inbox clean, a security product that would hate spam as much as we do. Well, it may seem like Sunbelt Software, one of the top security companies on the market, found a way to protect inboxes: iHateSpam. The product was released a long time ago, but the latest version is supposed to provide more powerful features than anytime before.

According to a Sunbelt news release, the new version 5.0 comes with a 'completely new antispam engine' meant to stop spam attacks in 'real time'. This technology has been used before by other security companies, but Sunbelt currently relies on 'human feedback' ,which could help the vendor stop unwanted messages. Imagine that once a user discovers a new spam campaign and reports it to Sunbelt, the company can easily protect other consumers from receiving the unsolicited emails. Forming a large community obviously means better security filters, iHateSpam having a very important role in this battle against spam.

Sunbelt's software is an add-on that works with several email clients, so it cannot be used as a stand-alone solution to block spam. Unfortunately, iHateSpam 5.0 only supports Outlook 2000, XP, 2003 and 2007, but the developers informed that Outlook Express 5 and above as well as Mozilla Thunderbird will be added on the compatibility list 'by the end of first quarter 2008'. If you're interested, you can buy a one year license including spam updates, software improvements and US-based technical support for $19.95.

However, a trial version is also available right here on Softpedia (keep in mind that version 5 ONLY works with Outlook!).
