14 DAY TRIAL // Despite conducting some of the most attractive teardowns, the people at iFixit seem to be obsessed with the repairability level of Apple products. Well, who can blame them really? That’s their whole business, after all.
After opening up the tablet and finding all the parts they were expecting to find (give or take a few nuts and bolts), the repair shop proceeded to rank the tablet’s repairability, but not without some solid arguments.
Such as: “Just like in previous iPads, the front panel is glued to the rest of the device, greatly increasing the chances of cracking the glass during a repair.” And, “Gobs, gobs, and goblins of adhesive hold everything in place. This is the most difficult battery removal procedure we've seen in an iPad.”
Fair enough. iPad Air: not very repairable. But how many people do you know who repair their iPad? Whatever breaks in that thing either has to be replaced completely, or Apple is going to give you a new one (under warranty).
