Workaround reportedly found in alternative application called MyFile

A number of iOS 5.0.1 users are reporting that the latest untethered jailbreak has killed off access to one of their favorite third-party applications. Luckily, there seems to be an alternative until the iPhone Dev Team / Chroni Dev works around this problem.

Although the hackers responsible for the latest untethered jailbreak are working hard to crack Apple’s A5 devices, they might have to make pit stop.

Apparently, a third party productivity app called iFile has stopped working for some users after they applied the Dev Team’s latest untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 - Redsn0w 0.9.10b1.

Redsn0w was updated to beta 2 in the meanwhile, but the updated build appears to be just as harmful for the iFile app. And, it would be reasonable to assume that any file managing applications that use similar APIs will also fail under these circumstances.

Yesterday, a person contacted Softpedia after the Dev Team had released the first Redsn0w saying, “a lot of my contacts are collectively reporting that iFile has stopped working after they jailbroke their iPhone using redsn0w 0.9.10b1.”

We promptly issued a preemptive warning on that and, sure enough, the comments started rushing in confirming the widespread nature of the problem.

“I am experiencing it too! Please help!”, said one user. Another added: “My paid iFile app has been broken by this untether too…”; and another said: “Same symptoms for me : iFile doesn't work with ios 5.01 and Redsn02w 0.9.10b1”

According to some, even Installous stops working after applying this untethered jailbreak.

We’re going to put out a notice for the iPhone Dev Team and maybe they’ll look into the matter.

In the meanwhile, the only solution for those who depend on iFile seems to be installing an alternative app called MyFile, according to atnb.
