Alongside the release of iPhoto 8.0.3, Apple also issued updates to its video applications, iDVD and iMovie. Both updates are recommended for their respective users, as they address general compatibility issues and application-specific problems, while improving stability.

Talking about iDVD 7.0.4, Apple reveals that, “This update addresses general compatibility issues and fixes an issue where iDVD is unable to add title/comment to an image in the image details list. This update is recommended for all users of iDVD version 7,” the company stresses.

As far as iMovie 8.0.3 goes, Apple points out that “This update addresses general compatibility issues, improved overall stability and fixes a number of other minor issues.” The Mac maker then goes to list the very issues addressed in this update, which include:

- Support for 720p AVCHD Lite cameras and camcorders
- Deleting a beat marker no longer modifies the project duration
- Video Effects palette now uses the correct thumbnail for still images

The iMovie 8.0.3 update is just as recommended for all users of iMovie '09.

iDVD 7.0.4 (file size - 27.5MB) and iMovie 8.0.3 (file size - 35.56MB) both require Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later. The current version of OS X Leopard is 10.5.7. Languages supported by both updates include Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk, Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

A note about iDVD and iMovie

iDVD is a DVD creation-app developed by none other than Apple. Part of the iLife suite, iDVD is intended solely for Mac OS X use and allows the user to add QuickTime Movies, MP3 music, and digital photos to a DVD that can then be played on a commercial DVD player.

iMovie, on the other hand, is an actual video editing application, assisting users in editing their home movies. Originally released by Apple in 1999 as a Mac OS 8 application, the software was bundled with the first FireWire-enabled Macintosh model. iMovie is now part of the iLife suite.
