iBuyPower has just announced the fourth version of its popular Chimera gaming system inspired by the mythical fire-breathing beast which now comes with a new outrageous paintjob and improved hardware specifications.

Users wanting to go for the Chimera 4 have the option of going for one of the three platforms available based on AMD's FX-Series, Intel's LGA 1155 or LGA 2011 processors

This includes Intel's recently launched Core i7-3960X CPU that packs six processing cores clocked at 3.3GHz with a top Turbo Boost speed of 3.9GHz.

These can be paired together with a maximum 32GB of DDR3 system memory, up to eight internal drives delivering a total of 24 TB of storage space and various AMD or Nvidia graphics cards.

Dual-GPU setups are also supported, while the roomy mid-tower chassis also provides three external drive bays for attaching a Blu-ray drive, a multi-format card reader, and a fan controller.

Speaking of cooling, iBuyPower latest system comes pre-fitted with a total of six 120mm fans and the CPU is chilled by a liquid cooling solution that delivers both low-noise operation and high thermal performance.

No matter the configuration chosen, the Chimera 4 systems feature a 10% factory overclock, but users also have the option of going for a 20% overclock for an extra fee.

“The vibrant Chimera 4 is the best looking system we have ever designed and one of the most powerful.” said Darren Su, Executive Vice President of iBuyPower.

“It combines performance and style in a unique offering sure turn heads and leave scorched earth in its wake,” concluded the company's rep.

The Chimera 4 is available right now from the company's website and pricing starts at $799, which roughly translates into 592 EUR.
