Ever since the MacBook Pro came out, the subject of rumor and anticipation for those with portable inclinations has been the former iBook, now believed to be re-branded as Macbook.

In
a report, Commercial Times said that Asustek Computer obtained the contract from Apple for 'iBook' portables, estimated at approximately 1.2 million units. As expected, the laptops will be powered by Intel processors, and equipped with 13.3-inch widescreen displays. Reportedly, Apple would start selling them as soon as June.
Apple has apparently placed orders for the display with Taiwan-based panel makers AU Optronics and Chi Mei Optoelectronics and Korea-based LG. Philips LCD. It seems that shipments are to begin this month, with AU Optronics alone shipping approximately 40,000-50,000 units monthly to Apple.
