Indian company iBall has just announced the upcoming availability of its 10.1-inch tablet aimed at students, Edu-Slide.

The tablet will be available for purchase for only Rs 12,999 ($240/€185) and will come packed with specific content for Indian students.

According to AndroidOS, iBall Edu-Slide is preloaded with educational content offered by eTeach. Indian students who purchase the tablet will receive one standard course material for free.

Additional educational content available for Edu-Slide includes standard I to XII for both CBSE and SSC (Maharashtra) in English, along with Marathi medium content of SSC students from standards V to X.

It is also worth mentioning that, aside from the free standard course material offered to all those who purchase the tablet, iBall gives away an additional course material by April 15.

“We’re entering with a motive to complement our education system, not replace it. There is a dearth of quality content in this sector and with increasing number of tablet users, now’s a great time to present iBall Edu-Slide powered by eTeach,” said Sandeep Parasrampuria, iBall.

iBall Edu-Slide sports a 10.1-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1280 x 800 pixels resolution.

Hardware-wise, the slate comes equipped with a dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a Mali G400 graphics processing unit.

In addition, the tablet packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Other highlights of Edu-Slide included: dual cameras (2-megapixel rear camera and VGA front-facing photo snapper), Wi-Fi, microUSB and Bluetooth.

Last but not least, iBall confirmed that Edu-Slide tablet would ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. No word on exactly when the tablet goes on sale in India, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
