Indian OEM iBall has just announced the immediate availability of its budget friendly Android smartphone dubbed Andi 5 E7. The handset comes with decent features, but it might not be that reliable in comparison with more expensive smartphones in India.

Still, AndroidOS reports that customers who wish to purchase an affordable smartphone can give the Andi 5 E7 a try, as the device is now distributed through several major retailers and iBall’s brick and mortar stores.

iBall Andi 5 E7 has been priced at only Rs 6,999 outright, which is about $110 or €80. Judging by the phone’s specs sheet this is not a too high price to pay at all.

First of all, the phone ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. Obviously, this is all you get as the iBall Andi 5 E7 will never receive another major update.

However, this is not going to be an issue for Android fans given the price tag. The only downside is the fact that Andi 5 E7 lacks 3G connectivity and this is something that other smartphones in the same price range might offer.

Hardware-wise, iBall Andi 5 E7 is far from being impressive, but it is decent enough to attract customers in emerging markets such as India.

The handset is equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, which is complemented by 512MB of RAM and only 4GB of internal memory. Fortunately, users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card.

iBall’s entry-level smartphone packs a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and video recording, as well as secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls. It also sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 854 x 450 pixels resolution.

Other highlights of the device include: dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS with A-GPS, FM Radio and 1850 mAh Li-Ion battery.
