iBUYPOWER has just announced the introduction of yet another high-end gaming system, designed to provide users with support for either Core i7 platforms or AMD's latest AM3 platform, featuring a Phenom II processor and DDR3 memory. Suggestively dubbed the Chimera system, the new desktop rig combines a glossy, custom-designed exterior with a high-end cooling system to provide users with a high level of optimization for high-performance applications, including some of the latest games on the market.

“We really wanted to make a splash with our first iBUYPOWER signature case,” said Darren Su, vice president of iBUYPOWER. “The Chimera gaming system comes fully loaded inside and out with an aggressive design and innovative technology.”

When deciding on the Chimera system, users will be offered the opportunity to choose between the latest Core i7 platform from Intel, with the Chimera X58, and AMD's AM3 platform, with the Chimera AM3, which delivers support for Phenom II processors and DDR3 memory. In addition, this new desktop rig is built using hardware components from some of the most recognizable names in the market, including ASUS, EVGA and Corsair. To further sweeten the offer, the system can be equipped with an NIC gaming network card or Creative's SoundBlaster X-Fi sound card and advanced speaker system. As you might expect from a desktop in its category, the system can support multi-GPU configurations for both Radeon and GeForce cards.

The system takes advantage of the NZXT Guardian 921 computer chassis, featuring three 120mm cooling fans, Asetek liquid cooling solution and a front panel thermal display that keeps the user informed on the temperatures inside the high-end gaming rig. Coming with a starting price tag of US$999, the Chimera system is bundled with a free copy of Halo 2 or Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X, according to the system builder.
